At the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak, tens of thousands of parents across Connecticut were unsure of where they could find childcare.

Back in March, Governor Lamont declared childcare centers an essential service, giving childcare supervisors the option to keep their doors open.

However, that does not mean that all childcare centers remained open or that the ones that did are operating the way the did before COVID-19.

Read on to learn more about what the COVID-19 outbreak means for childcare solutions in Manchester, CT.

Open Childcare Centers Near You

Many parents have discovered that the childcare center that they typically relied on has closed, at least temporarily. Fortunately, The Learning Center, with three locations across Manchester, is up and running!

We have a number of programs to choose from. We provide regular care throughout the week for infants through school-aged children. Now that summer has hit, our summer camp is starting too!

At the Learning Center, we do more than keep your children safe while you’re busy. We encourage positive socialization, create opportunities for physical and cognitive development, and cater our care to each individual child.

Childcare Solutions to COVID-19

In order to stay open, it is imperative that we closely follow the CDC’s recommendations for community-based programs. In order to do so, we ask that all of our employees wear face masks while on Learning Center grounds. We also limit group sizes to ten or fewer employees and children.

Which of these solutions directly affects you and your child?

We perform contact-free temperature checks for each employee and child upon arrival. We ask that all parents drop off and pick up their child at the main entrance to limit contact. We also ask that if your child shows any signs of illness, you keep them home with you for the safety of our staff and other children.

In addition, we are also modeling good hygiene for our kids here at the Learning Center. That means we’re washing our hands thoroughly throughout the day. We’re also teaching proper mouth-covering when sneezing or coughing.

How You Can Help

Are you wondering what you can do to help make your child’s daycare process go smoothly?

Continue enforcing positive hygiene at home! Sing a song during handwashing that reminds your child to keep scrubbing for 20 seconds. Correct open coughing or sneezing so it becomes an easy, go-to habit.

If your child starts learning these habits at home, it will be much easier for them to keep practicing them while in childcare!
