Learn Through Play

Pre-Schools Learning in Connecticut

Play is a Powerful Educational Tool

The Learning Center teachers make sure our students have plenty of time to play. Children learn best through play and exploration. Infants and toddlers develop socially and emotionally through play and interaction with peers. Outdoor play promotes toddler motor development and imaginative play encourages their cognitive awareness. Cooperative and imaginative play help pre-schoolers grow socially and emotionally. Developmentally appropriate play increases learning and awareness at all levels.

Academics and More

TLC has always been more than a day care center. We’ve created a nurturing environment with learning opportunities for infants, pre-schoolers, and elementary school children up to age 12. Each of our four campuses provides a safe, secure haven where children can enjoy being themselves. Our programs include many features that make The Learning Center the right place for your child’s development and education.

We provide a consistent education

At TLC, we offer a consistent educational experience for children from infancy to early adolescence. Young children in our Day Care Center and Early Learning groups get to know our child care providers and become familiar with our facility. Through our Pre-School, Kindergarten Readiness, and Kindergarten programs, children continue learning in the same familiar setting. School-age students return for Extended Day and Summer Camp.

We educate the whole child

At TLC, we believe in a balanced approach. Each day we provide opportunities for children to grow intellectually, physically, emotionally and socially. Our teachers introduce music, fitness, and gross motor development activities. We encourage learning through teachable moments throughout the day.

Our campuses are safe and secure

We’ve equipped each facility with a keypad entry system that requires a code for campus access. Our security cameras monitor playgrounds, shared spaces, community areas, and any space where children work and play during the day.

We train our staff with structured in-house professional development

Each staff member is required to complete early childhood development training. The classes are based on the curriculum milestones so we ensure your child has the encouragement needed to grow.

We welcome family involvement

At TLC, we invite moms and dads to schedule a school visit to view how their child interacts with teachers and peers. We urge parents to volunteer as field-trip chaperones or readers in our classrooms. We plan Mothers Day, Fathers Day, and Grandparent celebrations and other themed family-friendly events.

Transportation

We provide transportation for local elementary school students enrolled in our educational programs. TLC is the only child care facility in a five-mile radius to provide transportation. We’re the only large daycare facility in the Tri-Town area to offer this service.

Our popular Brightwheel communication platform helps you keep in contact with the school for check-ins and notifications. We also use Brightwheel to report on your child’s learning milestones, show you photos and bring you closer to your child’s experience throughout the day.

We Treat Each Child as if They Were Our Own

TLC is an abbreviation for The Learning Center. It’s also a simple way to remind families about our genuine commitment to Tender Loving Care. TLC is at the heart of everything we do. Because we care about our students, we teach, inspire, motivate, and help them grow into confident students.

The Learning Center has four locations in South Windsor, Windsor, and Manchester Connecticut. For more information about our educational and day care center programs, complete our online contact form or call us at one of the locations listed on our Contact Page.
